XRP ETF Launches Face Crucial July Deadlines

-

XRP ETF approvals are at the forefront of investor discussions as July becomes a defining month for the future of these funds in the U.S. financial market. A number of funds tied to XRP futures are on the brink of launching, pending regulatory clearance from the SEC. The outcomes of these applications could signal a new chapter in XRP’s integration into mainstream investment portfolios.

One of the key participants in this wave of potential ETF debuts is ProShares, a major asset management firm that is targeting July 14 to introduce three futures-based XRP exchange-traded funds. These include the ProShares Ultra XRP ETF, the UltraShort XRP ETF, and the Short XRP ETF. These funds are engineered to offer investors varied exposure to daily XRP market moves, from leveraged gains to inverse performance tracking.

ProShares Prepares for Mid-July Launch

ProShares originally submitted its filings in January 2025, with an effective date first set for April 30. However, a revision to the filing on June 24 updated the projected launch date to July 14. Presently, only the Ultra XRP ETF, trading under the ticker UXRP, is listed on the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) platform. The remaining two ETFs are yet to appear on the DTCC roster but are expected to follow if regulatory hurdles are cleared.

If the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission does not issue any objections prior to the deadline, ProShares anticipates being able to roll out all three of its XRP futures ETFs as scheduled. These offerings aim to broaden investor access to sophisticated XRP exposure through structured futures contracts.

New XRP ETFs from Turtle Capital and Volatility Shares

In addition to ProShares, other asset management firms are also lining up for potential XRP ETF debuts later in the month. Turtle Capital, for example, has scheduled the launch of its 2X Long XRP Daily Target ETF for July 21. This particular ETF is designed to deliver double the daily return of XRP prices, leveraging futures-based instruments. Its ability to go live hinges on a green light via non-objection from the SEC.

Volatility Shares is following a similar trajectory with two XRP-related ETF products poised for potential approval. Its standard 1X XRP ETF received effective status as of July 7, suggesting smooth regulatory processing so far. Alongside this, a 2X leveraged version is also being reviewed, with both funds aiming to begin trading on July 21.

Another name in the mix is REX-Osprey, which has submitted its own application targeting a July 25 launch date. Like the others, it focuses on futures contracts rather than spot XRP holdings, maintaining industry preference for futures-based exposure amid regulatory scrutiny surrounding spot crypto assets.

Despite movement on the futures-based ETF front, the SEC has yet to approve any spot XRP ETFs. There are currently more than 10 applications for spot XRP ETF instruments awaiting adjudication. These filings remain in limbo, with a final SEC ruling expected by mid-October should no additional delays arise.

The pace of ETF launches this month underscores the growing institutional interest in XRP and its potential role as a tradable financial asset. July’s regulatory milestones could play a pivotal role in determining how readily investors gain structured access to XRP within traditional market frameworks.
