Wietse Wind had a surprising announcement at the XRP community meetup in Amsterdam, announcing a new mobile banking platform that would allow users to hold and spend dollars, euros, XRP and other currencies without the help of a financial institution. The new mobile banking platform is called Xign.
Wieste Wind went on to say this about Xign:
“Xign will deliver a user experience we know as online banking. Not just crypto. So, what it will allow you to do is check your balance and send your funds in any currency, because the XRP Ledger can handle any given currency issued on the ledger…” “We’re not building a crypto wallet. We’re building a banking app. Except, without a bank. We’re building a banking app based on a digital ledger, based on the XRP Ledger and based on ILP (Interledger Protocol).”
The video was posted by BlueNetCrypto on youtube where Wieste goes further into details explaining how Xign would work.
The most appealing aspect of this platform is that it is going to be so simple to use, that the average joe can do it. This new platform will not make users enter a long crypto address when trying to send off fund, instead, the app will utilize an account directory with look-up and social features making sending money as easy as it can be. Wietse Wind went is pushing adoption, and is getting XRP one step closer to mainstream adoption.
