XRP Scam Warning: Red Flags for the XRP Army

-

What to Know:

  • Ripple warns XRP holders about ongoing scam tactics involving fake livestreams and deepfake videos.
  • CEO Brad Garlinghouse previously alerted the XRP community to scams impersonating Ripple’s official accounts on platforms like YouTube.
  • Other crypto projects like Binance and Shiba Inu are also frequently targeted, highlighting the need for vigilance across the crypto space.

Ripple is actively warning its XRP community about sophisticated scams designed to steal crypto assets. The team recently issued an alert regarding fraudulent schemes involving fake Ripple or XRP livestreams, giveaways, and deepfake videos. These tactics aim to deceive users into sending funds to malicious addresses under the guise of lucrative returns.

Scammers often target crypto projects with large, dedicated communities like XRP. Ripple has reiterated that its employees will never solicit asset transfers, wallet data, or investment participation from users. Verifying information through official channels remains the best defense against these scams.

“Keep your XRP yours,” Ripple’s team said.

Previously, CEO Brad Garlinghouse cautioned the XRP Army about impersonation scams on YouTube. Fraudsters were hijacking accounts and altering them to resemble Ripple’s official presence. Garlinghouse emphasized that Ripple and its executives will never request XRP from users.

“We’ve noticed an uptick of XRP scams on YouTube – scammers are stealing accounts and then updating the page to impersonate Ripple’s official account (username: Ripple). Reminder: Ripple or our execs will NEVER ask you to send us XRP,” the alert reads.

Other prominent crypto projects like Binance and Shiba Inu also face frequent scam attempts. Binance CEO Richard Teng has warned about phishing scams on platforms like WhatsApp. The Shiba Inu community is often targeted with fake promotions and airdrops designed to steal funds.

“Please stay cautious – Binance will never message you in groups about investments or funds. If in doubt, verify first,” he said.

Staying vigilant and verifying information through official channels is crucial for all crypto investors. The increasing sophistication of these scams underscores the importance of caution within the digital asset space. Remember, if an offer seems too good to be true, it likely is.
