What to Know:
- BitGo’s wallet activity spiked, creating thousands of new XRP wallets daily, each funded with 1.2225 XRP.
- This unusual activity significantly impacted key XRP Ledger metrics, like AccountSet transactions and new account creation.
- The surge appears to stem from a faulty BitGo script that entered an endless loop, leading to failed transactions.
The XRP Ledger recently experienced a surge in on-chain activity linked to a BitGo Initialization Wallet, raising eyebrows among network observers. This wallet was observed creating and activating thousands of new addresses daily, each funded with a small amount of XRP. The incident highlights the importance of robust script management in blockchain operations.
The unusual activity triggered a spike in several key XRP Ledger metrics. AccountSet transactions, which typically average around 300 per day, jumped to 14,859 on November 2 and later peaked at 40,333 on November 6. Similarly, the number of newly created accounts surged, reflecting the intensity of BitGo’s wallet creation process.

According to Vet, a validator on the XRPL’s default Unique Node List (dUNL), the issue stemmed from a faulty BitGo script. The script reportedly entered an endless loop, continuously attempting wallet activations even after the main wallet’s XRP balance was depleted, resulting in a flood of failed transactions.
Lmao turns out BitGo just had a rogue script and now spams the ledger with failed transactions.
Because their account ran out of XRP ð.

BitGo has acknowledged the report and is investigating the cause, according to reports. The incident serves as a reminder of the operational complexities involved in managing digital assets and the potential impact of script errors on blockchain networks like the XRP Ledger, even as interest grows in other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Shiba Inu (SHIB), and the potential for spot ETFs.
