XRP Set for DOGE-Style Surge, Says Meme Coin Veteran

-

XRP is once again making waves in the crypto community as speculation around its future intensifies. According to prominent meme coin investor Zion “Ansem” Thomas, XRP could be on the brink of a major breakout resembling Dogecoin’s dramatic rise in past cycles. The XRP/BTC trading pair, in particular, is receiving renewed attention amid bullish forecasts.

Known for his strong presence in the meme cryptocurrency segment, Ansem recently remarked on social media that XRP might replicate Dogecoin’s explosive behavior during its previous bull run. The comparison isn’t random—Dogecoin soared by over 1,000% in a very short window back in 2021, largely following celebrity endorsements and viral momentum.

In Ansem’s own words: “Don’t know why but really feels like XRP is going to have one of the runs DOGE had last cycle where its XRP/BTC pair just goes way higher than any previous cycle.” Despite admitting he doesn’t fully grasp how XRP operates, his sentiment reflects growing optimism among crypto influencers that XRP could defy expectations.

XRP currently ranks as the fourth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. This status reinforces its potential to achieve another significant bull run. According to Ansem, if momentum carries XRP/BTC beyond its previous cycle highs, it might spark a powerful rally—perhaps one driven more by sentiment than fundamentals.

Adding fuel to the speculation is the historical benchmark set in January 2018, when XRP/BTC reached an all-time high of approximately 0.00014 BTC per XRP. Should XRP reach this ratio again given Bitcoin’s growing valuation, XRP’s own value could skyrocket to around $14.70 per token.

As of today, XRP is trading around $2.54, marking a 5% gain over the past 24 hours. To close the gap and revisit its previous BTC ratio-derived valuation, XRP would need to appreciate by over 478%. This outlook paints a striking picture of potential upside gains for early or current holders.

Although Ansem is renowned in the meme coin space, it is notable that his endorsement of XRP doesn’t stem from a deep technical understanding of the asset. In fact, he explicitly stated: “I still do not understand this coin”. This adds a layer of intrigue, suggesting his prediction is based more on market behavior and sentiment trends than on technology.

Many in his audience echoed positive sentiment, citing XRP’s recurring popularity within more casual crypto investor circles. One user even lumped XRP in with what they dubbed the “Four Horsemen of NormieFi”: XRP, Dogecoin, Cardano, and Hedera. The thread noted Ripple’s significant influence in the ecosystem and how $XRP manages to rally despite its divisive reputation among crypto purists.

XRP’s path has been anything but straightforward. Launched in 2011, the digital currency saw massive traction in the 2017-2018 bull cycle, becoming one of the best-performing major altcoins. During that period, it also fostered the rise of the so-called “XRP Army,” a vocal and loyal fanbase across social platforms.

Yet, similar to rivals like Ethereum (ETH), XRP has failed to surpass the record peak it set years ago. Despite various technological advancements and legal battles—most notably with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission—XRP has struggled to reclaim its former highs under current market conditions. That said, forecasts like Ansem’s suggest sentiment could shift quickly, especially if the asset regains momentum.

Whether or not XRP truly mirrors Dogecoin-style price action remains to be seen. However, the discussion it incited among traders and analysts points to heightened monitoring of Ripple’s crypto and its performance against both USD and Bitcoin.

If XRP continues to capture public imagination—regardless of technical specifics—it may very well deliver the kind of meteoric performance seen from meme coins in the past. And if Ansem’s instincts are right, XRP might just become the next headline-grabbing rocket in the crypto sky.
